HCRN Coordinator Gets Her DrPH

Our Birmingham Network Site, The Children’s Hospital of Alabama, has recently had some exciting changes in personnel. First, we would like to extend our congratulations to Chevis Shannon, who has served as the Clinical Site Coordinator, in her recent accomplishment of completing her doctoral degree in public health! Chevis has now moved from her role as the Site Coordinator to become the newest faculty member of the Division of Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As an Assistant Professor, Dr. Shannon will continue her doctoral work looking at the long term outcomes of hydrocephalus. She will continue to support Birmingham’s role in HCRN research activities pertaining specifically to studies examining intraventricular hemorrhage in premature babies.

With Dr. Shannon leaving the full time coordinator position, we would like to welcome Amita Bey as the new HCRN Alabama Site Coordinator. Amita has a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with concentrations in Epidemiology and International Health. Ms. Bey will be a great asset to the Alabama Clinical Center and we are pleased to have her as part of the HCRN team.
